KINGSTON, ON -- A state-of-the-art system developed at Queen’s University for rapid detection of microbes such as E. coli in water is being highlighted at the American Water Works Association’s Annual Conference and Exposition June 12-16 in Washington, D.C.
The technologies are being showcased by ENDETEC, the global sensor platform of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies. ENDETEC’s mission is to ensure water quality by providing continuous in-pipe monitoring of chemical pollutants and early warning detection of microbiological contamination.
ENDETEC will exhibit two breakthrough technologies: Its KAPTA™ line of multi-parameter water sensor probe; and its state-of-the-art TECTA™ B16 rapid microbial detection instrument for E. coli and Total Coliform bacteria, including its “All-In-One” TECTA™ CCA test cartridge, the most rapid detection method available on the market.
Based on a novel fibre optic sensory technology developed by Dr. Stephen Brown and a team of scientists at Queen’s University, and industry researchers, the detection system was licensed to ENDETEC (formerly Pathogen Detection Systems, Inc.) by PARTEQ Innovations, the technology transfer of Queen’s University. The patented ‘early warning’ system provides water system managers with laboratory-grade testing for E. coli and other coliform bacteria, faster, more reliably and more efficiently than ever before.
ENDETEC will exhibit their products at booth #2264 and present the TECTA™ B16 rapid microbial detection instrument in the New Product Technology Showcase.
