Brian Gray, Glenville Jones appointed to board of Queen's University's
PARTEQ Innovations

KINGSTON, ON -- PARTEQ Innovations, the technology transfer office of Queen's University, is pleased to announce the appointments of Mr. Brian Gray and Dr. Glenville Jones to its board of directors.

Mr. Gray is partner and national head of the intellectual property group at McCarthy Tétrault LLP. He is respected nationally and internationally as an expert in patent and trademark law, and for many years has been an adviser to PARTEQ on intellectual property matters. He sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of, and is Canadian correspondent for, the World Intellectual Property Reporter. He is a member of the board of the Canadian Biosciences Commercialization Institute, and from 1989-99 he was appointed by the Canadian minister of industry to advise on science policy to the National Biotechnology Advisory Committee.

Mr. Gray is a graduate of Cornell University (BA, MA) and received his Bachelor of Laws from University of Toronto. He has published extensively on wide range of topics, including patents, biotechnology, trademarks, industrial design, and technology transfer.

Dr. Glenville Jones is Craine Professor and Head, Department of Biochemistry at Queen's University. An internationally respected researcher in the field of nutrition, metabolism and Vitamin D, he is co-founder and former Chief Scientific Officer of Cytochroma, Inc., a PARTEQ spinoff company. He was a founding member of the advisory board of the Canadian Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism & Diabetes, and has served six terms on the scientific program committee of the International Workshop on Vitamin D. In 2004 Dr. Jones received a Career Achievement Award for his scientific contributions to the vitamin D field at the Thirteenth International Workshop on Vitamin D.

Dr. Jones is a graduate of Liverpool University (BSc, PhD) and completed postdoctoral work at University of Calgary and University of Wisconsin, Madison. Prior to his appointment to Queen's in 1984 he was a faculty member at the Hospital for Sick Children and University of Toronto. He is a named inventor on five patents and is author of more than 175 papers and presentations.

Mr. Gray and Dr. Jones will each serve three-year terms on the board, which is chaired by Dr. Kerry Rowe, Vice-Principal (Research) of Queen's University.
