Engineering-IT analyst brings patent, startup experience to Queen’s

KINGSTON, ON -- PARTEQ Innovations, the technology transfer arm of Queen’s University, is pleased to announce the appointment Hassan Jaferi as Analyst, Engineering and Information Technology, effective Oct. 30.
Mr. Jaferi is an engineer with expertise in computer engineering, intellectual property analysis, and startup company management. Prior to joining PARTEQ Mr. Jaferi worked as a patent examiner with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, specializing in patent applications relating to computer/electrical engineering inventions. Previously he worked with the European Space Agency’s Incubator Unit, where he provided management support and intellectual property assistance to companies applying space technologies. He also worked with Nortel Networks’ Global Professional Services, where he created software modules for wireless and IP networks.
Mr. Jaferi is a graduate of the University of Ottawa (BASc) and the International Space University (MSc), France.
Reporting to Mr. Stephen Adolph, Director of Commercial Development, Engineering and Information Technology, Mr. Jaferi will assist in the commercialization of university-generated technologies, including meeting with researchers; identifying research innovations with commercial potential; performing patent and literature searches; identifying potential receptor companies; working with our patent agents to assist in patent applications; and working with senior commercial development colleagues to apply for both public and private research development funds.

Mr. Jaferi’s appointment is part of an expansion in scope and capacity at PARTEQ made possible by funding from the Ministry of Research and Innovation’s Ontario Research Commercialization Program (ORCP).
