SPARQ Systems Inc.
Open for investment
SPARQ Systems Inc. is a spinoff company formed on breakthrough technology discovered by Dr. Praveen Jain, Canada Research Chair in Power Electronics at Queen’s University.
The technology, a compact solar microinverter, enables more reliable, efficient power generation from solar photovoltaic systems. Microinverters convert direct current, harvested by the panel, into alternating current compatible with the electric utility grid.
Dr. Jain’s design eliminates unreliable components, which increases the lifespan of the microinverters such that it matches or exceeds that of the solar panel. The technology is unique and several patents have been filed to protect its proprietary features.
SPARQ’s smart software solution allows solar panel manufacturers to incorporate the microinverter into an integrated AC panel offering. The company’s products are now certified and SPARQ has received a purchase order for its first-year production volume.
SPARQ has selected Sanmina SCI to be its contract manufacturer and volume production is scheduled to begin this summer.
SPARQ has developed this technology primarily with funding and support from PARTEQ Innovations, Queen’s University and the Ontario Centres of Excellence. SPARQ will accept limited investment from the PARTEQ Angel Network prior to closing a Series A financing this Fall.
More information on SPARQ can be found at www.sparqsys.com. A term sheet and investor presentation for this investment will be available to registered members of the PARTEQ Angel Network upon request.
Switchable Solutions Inc.
Open for investment
Switchable Solutions Inc., a spinoff company of GreenCentre Canada, is a green chemical technology company based on a novel green solvent technology discovered by Dr. Philip Jessop, Canada Research Chair in Green Chemistry at Queen’s University.
The company’s Switchable Hydrophilicity Solvent system offers green solutions that can be applied across a broad range of applications, including plastics recycling, oil sands recovery and remediation, and seed oil extraction, among others.
This solvent offers a green alternative to traditional solvents, which are widely used in the chemical industry. Activated by water and carbon dioxide, the solvent is low toxicity, green, and reusable. It can be used and manipulated at ambient temperature and pressure while using a fraction of the energy and resources needed for traditional solvent processing.
Patent protection has been filed and U.S., Canadian and international patents are pending on this technology.
The technology has been substantially developed and tested by GreenCentre Canada, which licensed it from PARTEQ Innovations. Switchable Solutions has two founding industrial sponsors, Fielding Chemical Technologies Inc. and NexCycle Plastics Canada Inc., and it has announced its first pilot manufacturing plant for plastics recycling in Mississauga, ON.
SSI will accept limited investment from the PARTEQ Angel Network prior to closing a Series A later this summer.
More information on SSI can be found at www.switchablesolutions.com. A term sheet and investor presentation for this investment will be available to registered members of the PARTEQ Angel Network upon request.
